As a Group Accounting and Reporting Intern, you’ll be responsible for the preparation and analysis of consolidated information. The team serves as an oversight body, helping our organization in aligning business and financial reporting requirements. As such, the team works closely together with the Markets, Business Groups, group functions and our R2R team to deliver quality internal and external financial reporting. You will also have the opportunity to be part of Internal Control team and gain insight into various areas of business by learning about the end-to-end processes, risks and controls within those areas.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • A motivated student who is currently studying towards a bachelor’s or a master’s in accounting (basic training in IFRS is part of your education).
  • Some experience in previous internships in the same field (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent knowledge of windows applications, and most important well-developed power point and excel skills.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Team player mindset with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Contribute to the GA&R specialists’ assignments in performing research on particular accounting matters relating to IFRS;
  • Assist in the revision of Signify accounting manual and in preparing accounting presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Add your own value to training events.

Notes

  • EU/EER students: In order to be considered for this internship, you need to be registered as a student during the entire internship period. Formal documentation of this may be requested at any time.
  • Non-EU students in Dutch Universities: You need to be registered as a student and your university needs to sign the Nuffic Agreement. The internship needs to be a compulsory part of your studies (receive ECTS in turn). In case of non-compulsory internship, you need to have a letter from the university in which it states that your internship contributes to your personal development, what your learning goals are and what tasks you will undertake during your internship. The letter has to be signed and stamped by your university.
  • Non-EU students in non-Dutch Universities: You need to be registered as a student and the internship should be a compulsory part of your studies. Also, you need to be able to get the official approval of your university for this internship (Nuffic agreement).

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and analyzing consolidated financial statements that are used for internal (Monthly) and external purposes (Quarterly/Half-yearly/Annually).
  • Being the authority on the Signify Accounting Principles and external reporting matters, i.e. Finance Reference Toolset (incl. new IFRS) and Financial Codebook.
  • Pro-actively carry out reviews on the consolidated financial information ensuring that transactions are reported consistently with the applicable accounting standards (oversight).
  • Providing support to Markets, BGs and group functions on the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions.
  • Providing support to Internal Control Team with ad hoc analysis and quarterly reporting to senior management.
  • Support in the internal control framework updates.
  • Support with data analysis through “MS Access/SQL and PowerBI” in our digitalization projects.
