Are you an experienced Category Manager, with a track record of driving change and significantly impacting the Category landscape?
If so, we invite you to apply for a pivotal role within STARK Group Sourcing and our Commodities Category team, to help us grow our Timber & Panels category across Europe.
This role is new, and you will for sure make a big difference in helping us designing an attractive Group offering in the category, that can be presented to customers and suppliers.

Job Content

  • You understand the market, product category and price dynamics within the categories and what it takes to become the winning distributor in the Timber & Panels category.
  • Staying current on industry developments, trends, and internal business analyses to make strategic decisions and shape the categories.
  • Maximizing the performance and profitability of the categories.
  • Develop, implement, and continue to evolve a group category strategy for the categories, including developing a European Sourcing Strategy for Timber & Panels, in collaboration with business units aligned with Sourcing Advisory Board decisions.
  • You will collaborate with Business Units to design an attractive Group offering in the category, that can be presented to customers and suppliers.
  • You will be driving and managing agreed-upon European activities with European suppliers, ensuring successful execution.
  • Establish a structured meeting framework with key suppliers/partners, to foster strong relationships, effective communication, and common development of the categories.
  • Defining and agreeing upon campaigns and marketing activities in coordination with Category teams in the business units.
  • You will act as a point of contact for suppliers joining the European Supplier Program, on development of products and cooperation across business units.
  • Align, coordinate, and lead the decision-making processes for European assortment activities in close collaboration with Category teams in the business units.
  • Undertake and oversee digitalisation projects in cooperation with European supplier/partners, leveraging technological advancements for operational excellence and growth.
  • Facilitate sharing of best practice to drive performance and compliance.

  • Your manager is located in Norway, but re-location is not necessary for this position.
  • However, some travelling must be expected since you will have a lot of interactions with local business unit teams.

  • You have the capability and interest to work on ‘everything’; from strategy and strategic direction to details on product level.
  • You have strong relationship management and networking skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • You have prior experience in category management, industry experience is considered a plus but not a must.
  • You have a strong strategic mindset.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assimilate information.
  • Resilient and able to constructively challenge and influence at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in sustainability.
  • You have drive and curiosity, are proactive, innovative and an initiator – these are words that describe you.
  • You thrive in collaborating with others.
  • Comfortable in working in English (corporate language).
