Description Group Exercise Instructor JOB OVERVIEW Create/Conduct safe and effective exercise routines for BHSC members and guests in a group setting. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Instruct exercise classes. 2. Encourage participants to perform exercise routine at the appropriate intensity level while coaching recommended body alignment. Offer modifications if needed. 3. Maintain current CPR and appropriate certifications as determined by the fitness manager and provide copies as they are updated. 5. Maintain good interpersonal skills, remain neutral in conversations and uphold client and coworker confidentiality. 6. Maintain status as an instructor and employee in good standing through performance evaluations completed by the Fitness Manager. 7. Attend on-site training programs and staff meetings. 8. Aid The Sports Club in promoting the Group Exercise Program and serve as an appropriate role model for health and fitness criteria. 9. Submit appropriate timesheets as instructed in regards to payroll. 10. Report maintenance requests to Fitness Manager in relation to the facility, for example, ceiling tiles, equipment, building, temperature, electricity, etc. 11. Keep the exercise studios and closets organized and help keep exercise equipment clean and returned to its proper location after class. 12. Encourage class participants to register and scan in at the front desk for accurate digital class attendance records. 13. Assist in reminding members, non-members, and guests to register and pay for classes with a cost at the Sports Club Front Desk. 14. Acquire and maintain current knowledge of Sports Club programs and policies to respond to member/guest questions. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS 1. Nationally accredited group exercise certification or comparable fitness certification 2. Exceptional customer service skills 3. CPR/AED certification 4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 5. Personal and professional fitness experience. 6. Proven ability to: a. Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy. b. Prioritize and organize. c. Resolve problems calmly, using good judgment. d. Work independently. e. Understand customer service needs and solve them proactively. f. Work effectively with managers and co-workers. g. Protect confidentiality of clients and coworkers. h. Recognize an emergency and follow emergency procedures.
