ABOUT YOU

  • CA or CPA qualified with strong experience in Group Financial Controller, Group Finance Manager, or senior finance roles within scaling or multi-entity businesses.
  • 5+ year experience in a Controller role, with global impact or similar
  • Able to navigate both big-picture strategy and hands-on execution with agility.
  • Comfortable leading transformation, standardizing systems, and continuously seeking efficiency through automation.
  • Skilled at engaging with leaders at all levels, with confidence in challenging the status quo.
  • Leadership style that is inclusive and empowering—building both capability and buy-in.
  • Proven experience managing financial operations across multiple countries, with a deep understanding of international compliance, reporting, and currency considerations.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Group Financial Controller will lead all aspects of Baresque’s financial management, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and commercial insight. This is a senior leadership position, blending strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. The role requires a proven ability to manage multi-country finance functions, ensuring alignment with global compliance requirements and integration of international entities into consolidated group reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead and manage all core finance functions – accounting, tax, compliance, reporting, cash flow, and forecasting.
  • This role holds end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, leading both onshore and offshore teams.
  • Own and deliver the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, providing clear financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Manage cash flow proactively, including oversight of accounts receivable and payable.
  • Lead year-end processes, including liaison with auditors, tax agents, and external advisors.
  • Review and improve financial controls, systems, and processes to support scalable growth.
  • Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team on strategic planning, scenario modelling, and business performance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
