Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

You are required to demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices. It is your responsibility to ensure that execution of your function is line with documented procedures specific to your role or business.
The role will involve close partnership and interaction with a wide range of areas, including credit, middle office, legal, front office, settlements, market risk control, credit risk management and others. The ideal candidate would posse strong communication skills along with deep knowledge of the markets, financial products, risk management controls, and regulatory margin requirements. Furthermore, the candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to coach and develop the skillsets of analysts that are under their management and possess a strong understanding of the analytical principles underlying the various trading strategies of Prime Brokerage clients.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead a team of analysts by providing leadership, supervision, coaching, evaluation of performance and empowerment.
  • Manage the recruitment process for vacancies on the team.
  • Daily monitoring of client portfolios, issuing and receiving collateral calls to ensure the firm’s credit risk is mitigated.
  • Leading Forum presentations to senior management.
  • Managing CAD Prime Brokerage and USPS/RegT Policy reporting requirements and analysis.
  • Implement change to support policy changes and operational efficiency.
  • Design collateral management operating procedures that comply with internal policies
  • Relationship management with clients and front office
  • Effectively challenge, propose, and champion projects to improve efficiencies, to provide more effective business support.
  • Providing information and analysis to partners to as to portfolio risks, and the business level exposures across product type, seniority, industry, country, etc.
  • Track and be informed about regulatory changes and industry related initiatives.
  • Responsible for the team’s adherence to internal standards with regards to violations and the escalation of production issues and ensuring that all late or missing reports and related process metrics are recorded, documented and explained appropriately.
  • Ensure internal control processes are adequate and documented appropriately as per the governance standards including establishing appropriate review and assessment of the quality of outputs based on business standards.
  • Managing operational risk (e.g., cross-training, escalation, error reporting, documentation, and audit).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required as the candidate will be relied upon to lead a team
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain confidential and complex issues as well as experience with recommending changes to management.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, regulations, and market risk metrics, gained through academic study, or practical experience.
  • Strong organizational, follow-up and priority-setting skills to handle multiple tasks/projects
  • Candidates with experience in Risk Management roles, familiarity with CIRO and FINRA regulations and familiarity the principals governing portfolio management will be favourably positioned
  • Technical skills (Excel/SQL/VBA etc) and the CFA and FRM credentials will also be viewed favorably
