Description

Description The J offers American Red Cross group swim lessons for children age 6 months and up. We offer classes for the beginner to the experienced swimmer who may be working on stroke proficiency and endurance. Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5pm-7pm and/or Sundays from 12pm-2pm Benefits Free individual membership to The J Discounts on personal training, CrossFit, theatre shows and more Continuing education and professional development opportunities Great Overland Park location Pay starts at $11-13 per 30-minute lesson, based upon experience Essential Functions Provides quality instruction to individuals and small groups as assigned Teaches skill-based instruction as outlined by the American Red Cross Maintains accurate attendance and performance records Follows and enforces all safety guidelines, policies and procedures of The J and the Aquatics Department Requirements American Red Cross WSI certified, or able to obtain before start date (courses offered at The J if desired) Must be at least 16 years old Able to communicate effectively with children and parents Able to provide excellent customer service Previous competitive swimming, teaching or coaching experience a plus We will train new employees to teach private, custom swim lessons Physical Requirements Requires constant talking and hearing to communicate instructions with students, constant repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination to demonstrate strokes as well as frequent standing. Will occasionally walk, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs., climb ladders in and out of pool, and stoop/crouch. This position also involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions depending on the season, and varying pool temperatures. Good vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Responsibilities

Provide quality skill-based swim instruction to individuals and small groups following American Red Cross guidelines. Maintain accurate attendance records and enforce all safety policies within the Aquatics Department.
