We are currently seeking a full-time Grower who aims to advance their career in horticulture. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in the nursery industry (floriculture/horticulture) experience would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Data driven with strong organizational skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary: $26.00-$33.00 per hour commensurate on experience.

Responsibilities

GROWER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and monitor climate conditions system using Priva Technology.
  • Monitor and control irrigation settings to ensure optimum plant health and yield.
  • Mix fertilizer and take soil samples to monitor the application of nutrients.
  • Contribute to research efforts and greenhouse-innovation activities.
  • Execution of pest-management programs, research and develop sustainable processes and applications towards environmental sustainability.
  • Oversight on chemical and growth regulator applications and making sure that safe practices are adhered to and within budgetary requirements.
  • Weekly crop walks and completing action items in a timely fashion.
  • Monitoring boilers and heating systems to ensure they are sound and ensuring their capacity.
  • Work with colleagues and growers to maximize production and optimize crop timing.
  • Ability to perform minor adjustments and repairs to greenhouse control systems.

OPERATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborating with the Managers to ensure information flow on crop development to meet upcoming production needs.
  • Taking initiative to delegate the completion of tasks and identify areas needing attention related to the greenhouse and machinery required to ensure production deadlines are being met.
  • Planning and purchasing plugs, soils, and application materials required for crops and ensuring inventory is maintained.
  • Progress tracking, and oversight of harvesting, mother plants, sticking, planting crews, and pest control.
