Responsibilities

THE ROLE

At the forefront of innovation, Monzo is redefining how business banking works — helping companies of all sizes thrive with accessible, tech-driven solutions. With a long-standing commitment to making money work for everyone, we’re on a journey to empower businesses with meaningful growth. Now, we’re looking for a Business Banking Growth Partnerships Lead to join us and shape the next chapter.
As our Business Banking Growth Partnerships Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving our ambitious growth targets. With 1 in 6 new businesses applying for a Monzo Business account, we’re now setting our sights on the switcher market.
You’ll lead the charge in identifying and developing strategic partnerships to expand our footprint in the switcher segment and create pathways for sustainable growth. You’ll also help define the frameworks we use to assess and manage partners - delivering value to customers and finding new ways to distribute our products.
You’ll work with our existing portfolio of partners and take ownership of building out a business banking partnerships team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop a partnership strategy that supports our ambition to acquire businesses across segments and unlocks mutual value.
  • Create a prioritisation framework for evaluating partnership opportunities, ensuring they align with our mission.
  • Drive the strategy and execute our focus on switcher acquisition, moving from high-volume/low-revenue channels to targeted, high-impact partnerships.
  • Optimise and expand existing partnerships, including pilots like accountant affiliates and distribution partners.
  • Identify and negotiate new partnerships, building strong, scalable collaborations.
  • Deliver commercial analysis, business cases, and performance tracking to prioritise opportunities.
  • Build and lead a team, mentoring junior colleagues to develop their partnerships skillset.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Risk, Data Science, and Compliance to drive execution.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and competitor activity to uncover new market opportunities.

✅ Must-Haves

  • Experience negotiating complex contracts with strategic partners.
  • Experience leading a partnerships team and building functions from the ground up.
  • Proven B2B business development experience, ideally in banking, fintech, or tech environments.
  • Ability to design and execute scalable partnership strategies. Particularly affiliates/ distribution & product partnerships.
  • Commercial acumen and experience in building frameworks, performance metrics, and business cases.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • A hands-on, practical approach with the ability to work from first principles.
  • Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with accounting platforms, business software, or distribution partners.
  • Experience working on SME-focused products or ecosystems.
  • Understanding of regulatory or operational complexities in banking partnerships.
  • Previous work in product or acquisition partnerships.

✅ What Success Looks Like

  • A clearly defined and scalable partnership framework is in place.
  • Switcher acquisition is growing through high-value strategic partnerships.
  • Our current partner portfolio has been optimised and expanded.
  • A high-performing team has been built and developed.
  • Monzo’s business banking proposition is differentiated through partner-led value and distribution.

This role will be based out of our London office next to Liverpool Street station in a hybrid approach of office based and home working

  • We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team
