Job Details Job Location: BRYSON CITY, NC 28713 Position Type: Seasonal Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Hourly Division/Department: Operations Job Title: Rear Brakeman Reports To: Train Master & Operations Manager Type of position: Hourly / Non-exempt Employee Classification: Seasonal Location: Bryson City, NC Compensation: $15-17 hour, depending on job experience Job Summary: Wide range of responsibilities to support the Conductor for daily train operations with a focus on safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for safe operation of the train. Ensure cars and restrooms are stocked, watered, and operating. Assist Conductor with seating issues. Assemble and deboard Wildwater passengers in an organized fashion. Reports any condition that affects the movement of the train to proper authorities. Provide assistance to passengers with special needs or mobility limitations. Line track switches basic mechanical inspections and minor repairs on train cars. Courteous support of passengers, managers and fellow employees. Engage customers demonstrating strong customer service skills as part of the overall team. Compliance with GSMR procedures, safety and operating rules. Work with other departments as part of a team to provide passengers/guest with positive memories. Restock all bathrooms with supplies on all cars of the consist Other duties as requested. Qualifications Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English. Ability to be on your feet for up to 12 hours. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to ascend/descend train steps/ladders and crawl on, under and around locomotive and passengers’ cars while performing needed maintenance functions. Good balance/equilibrium: walk on moving trains, graveled, uneven and/or sloped surfaces that may be wet/slippery while carrying lantern and flashlight. Must possess organizational skills with ability to multi-task while prioritizing workload with practical, flexible and innovative approach to work. Ability to communicate successfully with a variety of personalities and function effectively as a member of a team. Pre-Employment & Random Drug Testing program in compliance with company policy. Take & Pass GCOR Rules Test. Must pass pre-employment work steps physical evaluation. Valid Driver License. Work Environment: Work on and off the train in varied terrain in all weather during both daylight and dark hours. Work in railyard performing switching and assisting with train movement(s). Varied schedule throughout the year dictated by train schedule and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

The Rear Brakeman is responsible for supporting the Conductor in daily train operations with a focus on safety. This includes ensuring the safe operation of the train, assisting passengers, and performing basic mechanical inspections.
