Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all retail activities to ensure retail goals and objectives are reached and consistent with established company policy. Works as a team member of the management team and functions as the direct report for retail and museum employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Retail Direct and oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of retail and museum employees assuring adequate staffing throughout the year while maintaining company accepted scheduling guidelines for Museum and Retail Store employees. Adhere to inventory control procedures including transfers, inventory, and end of month/period reporting. Conduct regular staff meetings. Oversee and ensure compliance with GSMR policy, procedures and safety program including safety rules, operating rules and participation in ongoing safety training and regular weekly safety meetings. Initiate and complete required paperwork and recordkeeping in a timely manner providing accurate reports to accounting, payroll, HR, and senior management as requested. Assist in the planning, development, and implementation strategies for the storage, pricing, and control of all product lines in an efficient manner which maximizes gross margins and meets initiatives as formulated with AHR Retail Management Team. Work with senior management team to develop and implement annual sales goals. Assist in development of annual operating budgets, including labor and expense lines while achieving budget projections. Execute AHR retail merchandising strategies, including product placement, visual displays, and lighting, to enhance brand presentation and drive sales. Oversee the development and implementation of staff training programs and department manuals with the AHR Retail Management Team. Oversee fulfillment of merchandise to include receiving, shipping, stocking, POS entry, markdowns. Perform regular and impromptu inventory audits. Regularly review pricing strategies, product line placement and sales attainment throughout the year to ensure pace with budgeted forecasts. Oversee and ensure compliance with proper cash handling and sales accounting of company assets. Review and approve departmental schedules and ensure employee timecard approvals are submitted biweekly. Other duties as assigned. Museum Work closely with museum employees to manage model train displays including but not limited to inventory, maintenance and décor supplies. Handle administrative and management duties for staff to include hiring, employee development, timecard edits and approval, performance review, terminations, shift scheduling and other personnel management. Assist Special Events Manager/Coordinator with decorating and preparing the museum for scheduled events and groups. Oversee day-to-day presentation of the museum to visitors and guests- engaging and answering questions or providing information as appropriate. Work Environment: Ability to push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Varied schedule, requiring overtime and weekend work as needed. Majority of time spent on feet; walking and standing on hard and potentially uneven surfaces for 8-10 hours per day. Comfort with bending, twisting, kneeling to position merchandise or to organize merchandise displays. Some time spent working in office settings, retail settings, and warehouse settings. Qualifications Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements: 3-5 years of supervisory experience, with demonstrated experience in Food and Beverage/retail sales/customer service settings. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English, possessing good leadership and interpersonal skills with proven ability to manage people. Must be able to interact effectively with coworkers, vendor, and customers. Experience using POS and inventory control systems with a strong command of basic accounting principles and profit/loss statements. High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis Excel. Experience working in a high-volume, multi-faceted sales environment involving front-of-house and back-of-house management, preferred.
