About the role

This is a dual role. You will welcome and look after guests from the moment they arrive, and you will also take orders and serve food and beverages throughout their visit. The job suits someone who is warm and confident with people, and equally comfortable working fast on the floor during a busy service.

Guest relations responsibilities

• Greet guests at the entrance, manage the reservation list, and seat them according to availability and preference
• Handle bookings by phone, email, and walk-in; manage waiting lists and estimated wait times
• Recognize returning guests and record preferences, allergies, and special occasions
• Check on tables during service to make sure guests are satisfied
• Listen to complaints calmly, resolve what you can, and escalate quickly when needed
• Collect guest feedback and encourage reviews where appropriate
• Coordinate special requests: birthdays, anniversaries, cakes, decorations, VIP arrangements
• Farewell guests at the door and invite them to return

Service / waiter responsibilities

• Present menus, explain dishes and ingredients, and make recommendations
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system
• Serve food and drinks following the venue's service sequence and standards
• Monitor tables: refill water, clear plates, and anticipate needs without being asked
• Communicate clearly with the kitchen and bar about timing, modifications, and allergies
• Prepare the section before service (mise en place) and reset tables after guests leave
• Handle billing, payments, and cash accurately
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards across the floor and service stations
• Support colleagues during peak hours and assist with closing duties

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in restaurant service, hospitality, or guest relations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; genuinely enjoys dealing with people
• Well-groomed, professional appearance and calm under pressure
• Good spoken English; additional languages are a strong advantage
• Familiarity with POS and reservation systems (OpenTable, SevenRooms, or similar)
• Food safety / food handler certificate, or willingness to obtain one
• Able to stand and walk for long shifts and carry trays safely
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
