Description Alaka’i Technologies is a fast-paced startup with the mission to enable hydrogen air mobility as a solution for clean travel and logistics networks. We are a group of trailblazers with a rich history of learning fast through designing and prototyping multiple aircraft and powerplants. We are looking for talented engineers who thrive in loosely structured environments and are able to take brand new concepts from whiteboard through prototyping and deployment. The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer is responsible for developing, testing and deploying algorithms for the GNC of unmanned aircraft. They will be involved in enabling the flight of new aircraft designs with unique characteristics beyond visual line of sight. They have strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable working with a small team and wearing many hats. Duties/Responsibilities: Analyze dynamical systems to understand flight physics in a novel aircraft configuration and develop frameworks and tools to quantify stability margin, handling qualities, Control authority, and mission-critical concerns across all flight phases Work closely with test pilots to define handling and flying characteristics, participate in mission planning and scenario simulations, and provide support during flight test activities Developing and maintaining simulation tools for dynamic aircraft systems Implementing the hardware and software required for the navigation and communication of unmanned aircraft Requirements Experience designing and testing flight control software Experience with BVLOS aircraft navigation and control Proficiency in C/C++, Python and/or MATLAB Experience in implementing guidance, navigation, and control systems hardware and sensors
Responsibilities
