Description:
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, your work will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Operate confectionary and candy manufacturing equipment and execute orders in line with company and industry standards and regulations; complete required documentation accurately and in a timely fashion
- Measure and prepare ingredients, read, and follow recipes and modify as needed to produce high quality edible products of specified flavor, texture, and colour
- Manage multiple tasks and more than one batch of gummy simultaneously
- Maintain a sanitary and organized work environment and proper functioning and operation of equipment
- Troubleshoot and address breakdowns and equipment issues, perform changeovers, routine checks, general repairs, and maintenance of equipment, calling for advanced repairs assistance when required
- Inspect packaged products for presence and correctness of lot number, expiry date and general packaging appearance and completeness
- Conduct and complete work orders and address issues as they arise
- Document production by completing forms, reports, logs, and records of equipment and batches
- Ensure proper compliance with Health Canada and other regulatory requirements, Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies
- Work safely by exercising due diligence and reporting any hazards to the Director of Operations
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12
- 2-5 years of experience in formulating and producing gummy candies
- Ability to use a variety of candy-making equipment and small hand tools and utensils
- Proven track record of creating, developing, and executing recipes and operational processes and procedures
- Food Safety Certification
- Ability to distinguish between sweet, sour, and bitter
- OH&S and WHMIS
- The position requires a flexible work schedule – you must be willing and able to work all shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Skill Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and eye for package quality
- Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labour tasks required for employment in a commercial scale indoor growing facility
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Job requires manual dexterity, and the ability to sit, lift, bend, kneel, squat, reach and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in moderate to loud noise levels
- Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset
- Ability to act independently and as a team member
- Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough monitoring and documentation skills
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice
- Excellent comprehension, communication, and interpersonal skills
