Description:
Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated community-focused individual to work as a Gun Violence Mediator for our Serving Our Streets Program within the Public Safety Division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience or training in crisis intervention
- Knowledge of St. Louis Metropolitan Area
- Reliable transportation
- Valid Missouri driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record

Responsibilities:
- Gaining information on potential conflicts St. Louis Metropolitan Area
- Formulating action plans to help resolve conflicts
- Attending weekly mediation meetings
- Meeting with high-risk individuals to discuss issues
- Working to prevent initial acts of violence
- Helping in the efforts to prevent all potential retaliatory shootings
- Developing relationships with influential individuals and groups in the community
- Referring potential clients/participants to outreach workers
- Documenting conflicts resolved on conflict mediation forms
- Maintain log documenting all contacts with high-risk individuals daily
- Participating in all required training
- Attending community responses as needed
