POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Gymnastics/Program Director, the Gymnastics Instructor teaches the gymnastics sessions. The instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and documenting each lesson.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
  • Enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics and children
  • Understanding of liability and safety issues therein.
  • Knowledge and understanding of skills and progressions regarding gymnastics instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding regarding the YMCA of USA’s Gymnastics guidelines, policies, and recommendations.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
    Pay Range: no experience starting at $10/hour ; with experience starting at $12/hou

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach the gymnastics daily sessions
  • Teach Saturday morning parent & tot and pre-gym classes.
  • Supervise “open gym” time.
  • Maintain the gymnastics center in a safe condition.
  • Report to director any safety issue.
  • Take care of any pre-session and post-session cleaning/maintenance duties.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings.
  • Execute a written report on any injuries or accidents that occur while on duty.
  • Supervise a birthday party according to the guidelines set forth in the manual.
  • Arrive on time, dressed professionally and well-groomed each and every day.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
