HACCP Coordinator/SQF Practitioner – Job Description
Full time with a 6 month contract leading to possible permanent position
Definition:
“Overall responsibilities of reviewing, updating, implement, maintaining and monitoring of the food safety system (GMP/HACCP/SQF). This includes responsibilities in auditing, employee training, Health & Safety and supervising of the Sanitation department.” And; to provide Leadership in SQF/HACCP/GMP and Peanut Free Certification Audits.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the President, the incumbent’s primary responsibility is to promote and enforce the food safety system for Hollandia Bakeries. The following are the responsibilities and accountabilities of the incumbent (but are not limited to):
Candidate will be lead contact for any Bakery Certification audits including SQF/Peanut free audits in 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the following departments directly:
  • Food Safety, Sanitation, Health & Safety
  • Oversee the following departments in-directly:
  • Quality Control
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System
  • Be a member of the Senior Management Team and HACCP Team and responsible for the duties therein
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the training needs of Hollandia’s personnel to ensure they have the required competencies to carry out those functions affecting products, legality, and safety
  • Supervise directly the Food Safety and Sanitation employee(s)
  • Conduct Management Meetings on a weekly/biweekly/monthly basis
  • Conduct internal audits of the SQF System
  • Participate in all managerial, quality, product development, food safety and health and safety meetings
  • Support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning
  • Support Quality Control and Food Safety policies, systems and internal/external audits
  • Primary liaison to 3rd party auditing agencies and government agencies (CFIA, Ministry of Labour)

Accountabilities:

  • Document and maintain the SQF Quality Manual
  • Document and maintain the MSDS binder
  • Document and maintain the Ingredient Supplier manual and Packaging Supplier manual
  • Record all reviews and revisions of documents pertaining to the SQF System
  • Purchase materials for the Sanitation department, daily consumables (gloves, hair nets, etc.) and the Microbiology Lab
  • Work with QC to ensure certifications and food safety is maintained
  • Ensure that operations conform to all federal, provincial and local laws, rules and regulation
  • Insuring the quality and safety of all manufactured products
  • Supports positive and productive management relations

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biosystems Engineering, Food Science or other related field(s)
  • Work experience of 3+ years in a Food Safety related role
  • Trained in or completed course work in HACCP and/or SQF Level 1 & 2 food safety modules
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiencies in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to learn new computer programs (LabelView labelling software, ESHA Genesis software, Ink-jet label printing software)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Experience in budget development and oversight
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment
  • Excellent people manager who is open to direction and a collaborative work style that makes sure the job always gets completed (and done properly)
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to Hollandia management
  • Ability to look at situations from different points of view (ie. outside-the-box thinking)
  • Persuasive with details and facts and convincing as a figure of authority

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
