FUNCTION/DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
· Experienced hand finisher with extensive knowledge around all aspects of hand finishing processes, desirably with knowledge around fabrication and material repairs.
· Experience in utilising wet polishing and hand grinding tools.
· Experience of achieving OTD working to tight deadlines around daily collections.
· Good time management and communication skills are key.
· Computer literate around Excel, word, and operating systems.
PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS
· A positive attitude, a good team player, able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment.
· Lifting/manoeuvring stone slabs (with mechanical assistance).
· Close inspection work and the ability to differentiate accurately between materials.
· The ability to follow the requirements of Standard Operating Procedures and work with minimal supervision once trained.
· Ability to solve problems and make improvements to processes.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Self-motivated
· Well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively.
· Resilient with the ability to work in a challenging environment.
· Knowledge of health & safety regulations.
SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
To hand finish components in a manner that will ensure they meet the required quality and specification to delight our customers. This process should be carried out only on occasions where the desired finish cannot be achieved using a machine. The process should be carried out accurately (within defined company tolerances) and as efficiently as possible while ensuring the tools and work area are maintained to the highest possible standards as described with the relevant SOP(s). As hand-finishing components by hand is not always a full-time task, the postholder is expected to assist in the factory during the course of the day in a general role that will enable the production team to work effectively and efficiently.
Besides department staff, there will be regular working contact with all other company staff at all levels. There may also be occasional requirements for working contact with customers and suppliers. It is expected that good communication practices and good citizenship and the principles of Customer Delight will underpin the management of these relationships.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To actively support the supervisory team and ensure jobs are completed on time daily, as per the production schedule whilst maintaining quality expectations and H&S protocol throughout.
· To ensure that all components are hand polished with correct and consistent profiles polished ends and chamfer’s as per production drawing and in the desired timeframe.
· The ability to under polish components by both machine or by hand.
· The ability to fabricate and carry out material repairs would be desirable however training would be provided.
· The ability to follow SOPs with relevant risk assessments to carry out daily tasks, any variation to be reported to supervision for review.
· All non-conforming product to manufacturing tolerance to be reported to supervision and captured by means of SMR.
· To assist your team with controlling the supplies of consumables in order to prevent stock-outs and liaising with onsite suppliers where applicable.
· Carry out other tasks and duties as required.
