Job Title Handyman Job Description Summary Responsible to assist with the operation troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties/facilities. Job Description Key Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of buildings including HVAC systems, plumbing, carpentry. kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, walls etc. Support the installation, modification, and maintenance of building equipment and operational systems. Carry out general building repairs and finishing works, including replacing ceiling tiles, repairing door hardware, wall repairs, and painting walls, floors, and equipment. Assist with the relocation and movement of small quantities of office furniture and equipment as required across site locations. Troubleshoot maintenance issues, evaluate system performance, and recommend improvements or cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Demonstrate competent knowledge in the safe use, care, and maintenance of tools and equipment utilised in facility and grounds maintenance operations. Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations, breakdowns, and customer service requests as required. Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions, preventative maintenance requirements, or equipment faults. Perform general carpentry and site maintenance duties as required. Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, government requirements, and company policies relating to building operations, workplace safety, and safe work practices. Utilise technology and maintenance management systems effectively, including smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and building automation systems. Complete all required C&W Safety Training annually and participate in ongoing compliance initiatives. Maintain a professional appearance at all times and comply with the C&W Uniform and Grooming Standards while on site. Requirements Current NV1 Security Clearance is desired Baseline Clearance may also be considered Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building services, or a similar maintenance role preferred Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to workplace safety, professionalism, and high-quality workmanship Experience & Qualifications Minimum 2 years' experience in a commercial property or facilities maintenance environment Technical, vocational, or hands-on training in areas such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting. Current driver’s licence with a good driving record Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word Ability to work independently, including shift work, on-call duties, overtime, and emergency response situations when required Trade qualification highly desired NV1 or Baseline Security Clearance required Work Environment & Physical Requirements This role operates across a combination of office, operational, and facility environments, requiring a proactive and adaptable approach to daily tasks. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple sites throughout the ACT and must be capable of travelling between locations as required. The position involves the safe and efficient use of maintenance tools, equipment, and technology, along with the ability to communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Candidates should be physically capable of performing a variety of hands-on maintenance duties, moving throughout work sites, and responding effectively to operational and facility requirements in a fast-paced environment.
