Ritchies is looking for a reliable Handyman/Fleet Support/Driver based out of Oamaru to join our team. This role includes driving on school and charter services as well as assisting with general yard and workshop duties when driving work is not required. If you enjoy driving, working independently, and providing great customer service, we would love to hear from you. About the Role You will be responsible for safely operating buses on school and charter routes, ensuring passengers travel safely and comfortably. When not driving, you will assist the team with general yard duties and vehicle preparation to help keep operations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities Driving Duties Safely operate buses on assigned school and charter routes Conduct daily vehicle safety checks including fuel, oil, water and safety equipment Ensure vehicles are clean, safe and ready for service Provide friendly and professional customer service to passengers Follow all road rules, company policies and safety procedures Report incidents, delays, road works or vehicle faults promptly Post-Run Duties Record vehicle hubodometer readings Report passenger incidents or mechanical issues Maintain high safety standards at all times Yard / Workshop Support Assist with general yard duties when not driving Run errands such as collecting parts or equipment Assist with pre-COF checks and transporting vehicles to testing stations Help maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop Provide general support to the workshop team What We’re Looking For Current Class 2 Driver Licence (or higher) Passenger (P) Endorsement or willingness to obtain Strong commitment to safety and reliability Good communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and follow schedules Willingness to assist with yard and workshop duties Why Join Ritchies Work for one of New Zealand’s leading transport companies Supportive team environment Variety in your work including school runs, charter driving and yard support Opportunities for training and career development Apply now and join the Ritchies team based in Oamaru helping keep our communities moving safely every day!
