Description General Summary: Responsible for providing preventative home maintenance and diversified repairs as requested and scheduled by our Cantata at Home team. Works to earn the trust and confidence of our customers, while providing maintenance services representing Cantata. Supports the mission and vision of Cantata, in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and company standards, guidelines and regulations governing our company. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: This description is intended only to identify the basic responsibilities and requirements of this job classification and does not prevent the assignment of other job-related duties. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodation. 1. Performs requested repairs, arrives on time for the scheduled appointment, and represents Cantata in a professional manner at all times (while working for the customer in their home, as well as when driving the company vehicle; and interacting with the public in the community at large). 2. Works effectively with the Cantata at Home (CAH) and other appropriate staff in communicating in a timely fashion information regarding: work projects, timely submission of invoices, hours worked, bills for materials, gas and mileage reports, customer’s comments, notes of possible potential maintenance or preventative maintenance projects, provides the customer with a Company business card and other appropriate information regarding the Company; and follows up when requested by CAH. 3. Works independently with little supervision and keeps track of receipts for items purchased for each job address, checks computer and/or voicemail for updates on job assignments; and works with CAH to prioritize projects and establish efficient driving routes to customers’ homes. 4. Practices safety and uses standard precautions when operating power and manual tools. Observes traffic laws, follows written and verbal instructions, and reports any problems, accidents, or concerns to the CAH Manager. 5. When working for the Company, you will consistently and specifically adhere to Company policy regarding conflict of interest; and will not represent any other construction or maintenance company to our customers. In certain situations, when the Company cannot accommodate the client’s request, other appropriate maintenance/repair/construction companies may be suggested to the client, at the discretion of the CAH Manager. 6. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of trust, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment when working in the homes of our customers. 7. Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner. 8. Follows work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks . 9. Attends in-services, meetings and educational training in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services policies and procedures. 10. Perform tasks/duties and utilize forms in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services policies and procedures. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements A. Knowledge/Skill/Experience Ø High School graduate or equivalent. Ø Must possess confidence and willingness to work harmoniously with and to occasionally supervise other personnel. Ø Ability and willingness to effectively work with individuals and groups with diverse needs and abilities. Ø Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Ø Must be able to maintain good personnel relations and employee moral. Ø Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Ø Ability and willingness to work harmoniously within a team environment departmentally. Ø Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with a diverse group of people. Ø Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Ø Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ø Aptitude for manual work. Ø Prior experience in maintenance and repair work (i.e.): drywall repair, painting, windows & doors, carpet cleaning & repair, decks, steps, railings, ramps, carpentry & trim work; tile/floor cleaning; gutters, cleaning & repair; weather proofing, insulation; and leak repairs. Ø Basic computer literacy. Ø Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people. B. Contact with Others Extensive contact with clients on a daily basis. Daily contact with CAH and other staff within the Company. Heavy interaction with client’s family members and the community at large. C. Delegation of Authority As a Handymender you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
