Company Description Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street is a 4-star hotel proudly operating under the Accor network. Located in the heart of West Melbourne near Flagstaff Gardens, Queen Victoria Market, Docklands and Marvel Stadium, the hotel offers modern design and a strong focus on guest comfort and quality presentation. Following our recent opening on 3 March 2026, we are seeking a skilled Part-Time Handyperson to assist with defect rectification and ongoing maintenance as we embed operational standards and ensure the property is maintained to the highest level. Job Description About the Role As Handyperson, your primary focus will be identifying, rectifying, and following up on building defects and minor maintenance issues across guest rooms and public areas. This role is ideal for someone practical, detail-oriented, and experienced in post-construction or recently opened building environments. You will work closely with hotel the Maintenance Manager and external contractors to ensure the property remains safe, functional, and presented to brand standards. Key Responsibilities: Be actively involved in daily operational tasks, including conducting repairs, troubleshooting issues, and providing hands-on assistance to the engineering team as needed, ensuring efficient resolution of maintenance requests. Oversee the final stages of hotel construction from an operational perspective, conducting thorough inspections, testing all systems, and ensuring compliance with all safety and brand standards. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment. Liaise with external contractors and vendors for specialised repairs, maintenance, and projects, ensuring work is completed to specifications, on time, and within budget. Ensure strict adherence to all local regulations, health and safety standards, environmental policies, and Accor brand standards. Conduct regular safety audits and drills. Qualifications About You You are highly experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager with a proven track record in overseeing all aspect of hotel engineering, ideally within a pre-opening or new-build environment. You bring a strong combination of technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and strategic capability. You will also have: Comprehensive knowledge of building maintenance systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and BMS. Strong project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A thorough understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, contractors, and operational teams. Additional Information Why Work for Accor?
