Description
Create advanced design concepts of chassis components and systems (brakes, steering, suspension, wheels/tires/jacks) for Ford global vehicles and next-gen electrified architectures. Lead new component design / package maturation in CAD. Examples are stampings, castings, forgings, coil springs, shock absorbers, bushings, ball joints, fasteners, active suspension systems, brake systems, and steering systems. Oversee architecture system integration & installation, working with body, electrical, powertrain, vehicle operations, and vehicle architecture. Perform strength analysis for various chassis components. Perform chassis system analysis for kinematics and compliances, working with vehicle dynamics and NVH attribute teams. Early supplier engagement/interface for advanced concepts. Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, mechanical engineering preferred Knowledge of mechanical integration & installation requirements, package & assembly. Experience with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX is a plus. Experience with FEA (ANSYS or Hypermesh) is a plus. Experience with underhood / underbody / dash package & mechanical integration/installation a plus.
