REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • US Citizen.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in digital or analog hardware design
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., OrCAD CIS, Cadence Allegro).
  • Demonstrated experience with high-speed digital design principles, including signal integrity and power integrity considerations.
  • Experience with hardware testing, debugging, and validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in digital or analog hardware design
  • Strong understanding of FPGA architectures, development flows, and design techniques (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGA devices and associated development tools (e.g., Vivado and Vitis).
  • Experience with x86 and ARM processing architectures.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as PCIe, DDRx, Ethernet, and various communication protocols.
  • Experience in designing for harsh environments, including ruggedized or radiation-tolerant applications (e.g., NewSpace, aerospace, defense).
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, including processor integration and firmware development.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Tcl, windows batch) for automation of design and test flows.
  • Experience supporting products through the entire lifecycle, from concept to end-of-life.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented and driven Hardware Design Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and testing of complex embedded hardware solutions, centered around AMD’s most advanced FPGA technology. You will own the entire product lifecycle, from concept and architectural definition to detailed design, validation, and production support, ensuring our products meet the stringent demands of our diverse customers in markets such as embedded communications, electronic warfare, datacenter acceleration, and space.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and test sophisticated digital hardware, primarily involving high-speed interfaces, memory systems, and complex logic using FPGAs (specifically AMD/Xilinx).
  • Create requirement specifications and schematics, oversee PCB layout, perform design validation, and provide support for new and exciting embedded products.
  • Conduct thorough design reviews, simulations, and analyses (e.g., signal integrity, power integrity) to ensure robust and reliable performance.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for hardware prototypes and production units.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware defects, implementing effective preventative and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance.
  • Prepare technical documentation including design specifications, test reports, user manuals, and production support materials.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in hardware technologies, design methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support teams as needed.
