About The Job We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Product Engineer to join our engineering team in designing and developing next-generation industrial-grade smart grid communication devices. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cleantech innovation, contributing to the full hardware product lifecycle- from concept through regulatory compliance, testing, and production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics and embedded systems, with experience in both hardware and software integration. You will play a key role in shaping the future of smart energy infrastructure by collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that meet market needs and compliance standards. Corinex is hiring range for this role is CAD $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Duties & Responsibilities: Design and develop industrial grade hardware product for new generation smart grid communication devices and equipment to meet market and regulatory compliance requirements Conduct systematic evaluation and testing of products. Including PCBA hardware, reliability, environmental and regulatory testing to benchmark Product performance into concise test reports Contribute to system design discussions and provide comprehensive solutions for new and existing products. Translate open-ended user requirements into clear and specific product functional components. Design and develop factory test software in C# or C/C++, Bash, and Python for embedded environments, including Embedded Linux. Collaborate with Firmware and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of end products. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to development best practices. Work closely with product management to understand requirements and translate them into functional solutions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field. Experience in hardware product development, preferably in IoT, telecom, or powerline communication systems. Proficient in schematic design, PCB layout, and debugging tools (e.g. Altium Designer, KiCAD, or equivalent). Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.). Solid understanding of embedded systems, signal integrity, power distribution, and EMC/EMI considerations. Knowledge of product development lifecycle from concept to manufacturing. Familiarity with compliance testing and regulatory standards (FCC, CE, UL, CSA, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and hardware specifications. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Experience with wireless and wired communication protocols (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, PLC, Ethernet). Background in smart grid, cleantech, or energy management systems. Experience working with contract manufacturers and external vendors. Knowledge of thermal and mechanical constraints in hardware design. Experience with product certification processes. Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies.
