Description
The iPhone Hardware Engineering team is seeking a hardworking, versatile electrical engineer for the position of Hardware Engineer - System Technologies. In this cross-domain role, you will work across power delivery, electromagnetic coexistence, and power integrity to ensure robust system-level performance. Candidates with deep strength in one or more of these areas, and working fluency across the others, are encouraged to apply. The role calls for modeling, simulating, debugging, and validating complex electrical systems, spanning power conversion, EMI/RFI coexistence, and translating that analysis into design guidance for architecture, layout, and product bring-up. Experience with scripting and AI/ML assisted methods. Our team is collaborative, creative and passionate about what we do and the products we make. Come join us! DESCRIPTION Model, simulate, and debug electrical systems across DC-DC, EMI coexistence, and power integrity — in both frequency and time domains Design and analyze power delivery solutions, including DC-DC converters, passives, and PDNs, and assess their EMI potential Characterize and debug system-level EMI/RFI desense and coexistence issues using 3D EM and circuit simulation plus hands-on hardware validation Perform design feasibility studies, testing, verification, and system bring-up Provide design guidance for system architecture, board layout, product bring-up, debug, validation, and factory builds Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on power architecture, IP specs, and performance Develop and improve design methodologies to achieve robust coexistence and minimal EMI MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field Strong EE fundamentals and problem-solving skills Ability to relate electrical performance to physical layout and system-level behavior Hands-on experience with EM and/or circuit simulation tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS/Maxwell/SIWave, CST, ADS/SPICE/Spectre, Cadence/Sigrity) Board-level lab experience with standard equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, electronic loads, signal generators) Familiarity with system-level EMI/RFI desense and coexistence PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS MS/PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience Background in EM theory and coupling mechanisms; 3D EM simulation for debugging coexistence issues Experience with switching DC-DC converters, LDOs, magnetics, and power management ICs Experience with power distribution network (PDN) design and power/signal integrity Proficiency using AI/ML such as applying statistical or machines learnings techniques to HV test data, using optimization methods to accelerate PI/EMI/DCDC design iteration, and leveraging LLM based tools to speed up scripting, data analysis, and documentation. Some scripting experience is good to have (Python) Possessing a mindset of scientific and systematic approach to troubleshooting multi-disciplinary system issues is a strong plus Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills
Responsibilities
Model, simulate, and debug complex electrical systems focusing on power delivery, EMI coexistence, and power integrity. Provide design guidance for system architecture and board layout while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders for product bring-up.
