Description
About Redwood Materials Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Hardware Technical Program Manager, Energy Storage About the Role We are seeking a Hardware Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the development, testing, and manufacturing of complex, box-level electronics assemblies. You will own program execution from concept through production, coordinating across hardware engineering, validation, supply chain, and operations. This role is about making sure our hardware — from circuit boards and flex assemblies to enclosures, connectors, and integrated box builds — is designed for reliability, tested thoroughly, and built to scale. Responsibilities Drive end-to-end hardware program execution (requirements → design → validation → NPI → ramp) Lead cross-functional teams spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, industrial design, test, and manufacturing engineering Plan and manage prototype and production builds, including materials, logistics, and factory readiness Oversee board and flex releases, system integration, and validation testing (DVT/PVT/MP builds) Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to drive DFM/DFT reviews, yield improvement, and issue resolution Maintain clear build plans, risk registers, and program dashboards; proactively manage schedule and resource risks Serve as the primary interface between Redwood engineering teams and external manufacturing partners Provide transparent updates to stakeholders and leadership, highlighting status, risks, and key decisions Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline (advanced degree a plus) 5+ years of experience in hardware program management, hardware engineering, or manufacturing operations Proven success driving NPI builds and scaling hardware programs to volume production Strong understanding of box-level assemblies (PCBs, flex circuits, harnessing, enclosures, thermal systems) Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills; proven ability to thrive in high-ambiguity environments Willingness to travel to Redwood’s sites, suppliers, and contract manufacturers as needed Physical Requirements: Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments. Must maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards. Must be able to communicate clearly. Working Conditions: Willing to travel to Reno, NV as needed and for onboarding (if Bay Area based) Work schedule may vary depending on site operational needs, and flexibility is required Split work environment between office and the production facility. Work may involve extended periods of working in the production facility. Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time. May require occasional work weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs - approximately 25% The position is full-time and located in San Francisco, CA.
