ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

§ Applicants must be 16years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States
§ Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
§ Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes
§ Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
§ Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students)
§ Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions
§ Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago
§ All positions are “employment at-will”

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hour pre-credit of credit classes.
  • Must be a part of the Students Financial Aid Program and approved for Federal Work Study.
  • Must successfully pass CCC hiring process (Including criminal background check & drug screening if “sensitive’ responsibilities are in the job description)
  • Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as City Colleges of Chicago representative.
  • Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
Responsibilities
  • Student worker will represent the Career and Transfer Center by welcoming students, staff, employers, and transfer partners to the Center.
  • Conduct outreach which may include classroom visits and phone calls to students on behalf of the department.
  • Assistance with the delivery of workshops and events, which includes set-up, registration, intakes and wayfinding of participants.
  • Support the operation of the Career Closet, assisting staff in the production and distribution of flyers, digital outreach, and social media content.
  • Flexible Hours, Monday- Thursday availability is the priority.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor and great customer service.
  • Basic familiarity with and willingness to learn more about student-facing platforms such as myccc.edu, Navigate, Handshake, and VitaNavis Superstrong.
