JOB SUMMARY

Proudly Northern, Tutor Trust is a not-for-profit charity transforming young lives through subsidised, high-quality tutoring. We champion educational equity, ensuring support reaches those who need it most, regardless of postcode or background. Specialising in impactful SATs and GCSE tutoring, we are now seeking dedicated and passionate tutors to be recruited from Hartlepool and the surrounding area.
This is a crucial, self-employed role where you can make a tangible difference in your local community, earning a minimum of £20 per hour. We offer a comprehensive training and development programme and provide the flexibility to fit tuition around your existing commitments. We actively encourage applications from individuals with varied experiences and perspectives, as we believe this diversity enriches our team and enables us to better support our pupils.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience & knowledge: You must have a genuine passion for education and a belief in educational equity. You need demonstrable skills and knowledge equivalent to a grade 6 at GCSE in English Language. We can be flexible on formal qualifications and welcome applicants who have studied the subject at a higher level or have relevant work or volunteering experience. While not essential, it would be advantageous to have experience working with young people from a variety of backgrounds and an understanding of the systemic inequalities that impact educational outcomes. We welcome transferable skills from all backgrounds.
  • Experience working with young people from a variety of backgrounds is highly desirable, as is an understanding of the systemic inequalities that impact educational outcomes. We welcome transferable skills from all backgrounds.
  • Availability: You must be aged 18 or over and available for tutoring during the school day (Mon-Fri, 08:00-16:00), with the ability to travel to schools within your local area.
  • Safeguarding & checks: We are committed to safeguarding children. As a tutor, you will be in unsupervised contact with pupils, and this role is a regulated activity. All successful applicants must undergo a mandatory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with a check of the barred list. You must also be able to register as self-employed with HMRC and be legally entitled to work in the UK.
