Quails’ Gate Winery is seeking a passionate and experienced Harvest Assistant Winemaker to join our Winemaking Team for the 2025 harvest season, starting in August and running through to mid-November. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who brings technical knowledge, strong organization, and a collaborative spirit to support all aspects of the harvest—from grape receival and processing to fermentation and post-fermentation activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or certification in Oenology, Viticulture, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 harvests of experience (at least one in a leadership role)
  • Knowledge of cellar operations, sanitation, and winemaking equipment
  • Experience working in a winery laboratory
  • Familiarity with Innovint or similar winemaking software is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and forklift experience required

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Harvest Assistant Winemaker, you will play a key role in coordinating cellar and laboratory operations. You’ll lead our day-shift team of interns and work closely with the Winemaker to ensure high-quality wine production through precise execution, data management, and adherence to safety and winery protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support pre-harvest planning, including staff training and equipment prep
  • Oversee grape receival, processing, fermentation management, and wine movements
  • Coordinate harvest logistics, including bin scheduling, fruit intake, and transportation
  • Generate and manage work orders while ensuring SOPs are followed
  • Lead and mentor cellar and lab interns during day shifts
  • Maintain accurate records using winery software (Innovint)
  • Assist in lab scheduling, testing, and interpretation of results
  • Monitor inventory and assist with procurement of supplies
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality at all times
  • Perform other winemaking duties as required
