Description

We are looking for Harvest Assistants to work with us from July through to September, at our Throws Farm Site, located in Dunmow.
The successful candidates will play a key role in our R&D department by assisting with field trials, harvest, and grain analysis.
This is a great opportunity for those studying towards an agricultural degree or related subject to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and innovative company. Likewise, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain professional experience in the Agriculture / farming sector.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A full driving licence is preferred but not essential.
  • We are looking for individuals who are reliable, self-motivated, and passionate about agriculture.
    Full training will be provided for all tasks and there will be opportunities to work alongside experienced researchers and agronomists.
    This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain professional and practical experience within the farming / agriculture sector.
    This role pays national minimum wage.
    This role comes with significant manual handling and physical labour.
    Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 2 months
    Pay: £10.00-£12.21 per hour

Responsibilities
  • You will assist with all aspects of field trials as part of the R&D team, including crop assessments, seed preparation, and trial harvest. You will conduct crop assessments, including measuring crop heights, counting ear numbers, and calculating plot areas.
  • Role holders will also assist with trial harvest as part of a combining team, supporting the combine driver by taking samples of grain and returning these for analysis back at Throws Farm.
  • You should have a high attention to detail and accuracy. The ability to follow methods & SOPs accurately and work safely is essential.
  • You will be required to work irregular hours, days, evenings, and sometimes weekends to meet the demands of the growing season.
