The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its emergence as a commercial art form. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded. Our Education and Program department is responsible for engaging the public in a variety of forums, including public experiences, school experiences, private group experiences, events hosted by local organizations, and self-determined community events, all focused on educating participants about the shop’s history and the process of letterpress design and print. Hatch Show Print has been part of the Country Music Foundation since 1992. Position Overview: The HSP Education Associate will provide in-depth programming for the public, groups, and students and will assist with hands-on printing activities. Specific Job Duties: Drawing upon provided training and scripts, the education associate will educate audiences about the process of letterpress printing and the history of Hatch Show Print. Understand and demonstrate how to use platen, proofing and cylinder presses. Provide instruction on printing techniques and help tour participants operate a sign press to print a souvenir poster. Responsible for preparing the classroom for activities, conducting tours and programs, cleaning presses, and keeping materials organized. Assist visitors, answer questions, schedule and sell tours, answer phone calls and emails to assist visitors and clients. Ad hoc duties as assigned Requirements Minimum Requirements: High school degree or equivalences Proven experience in teaching, storytelling, guiding experiences, or instruction for all ages and skill levels Knowledge of design, art history, music history, fine art, crafts or printmaking Preferred Qualifications: College degree or college courses in a related field Knowledge of graphic art history Knowledge of letterpress printing Key Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Ability to multi-task and solve problems Upbeat and energetic Team player Ability to collaborate, focus, and work in a fast-paced, vibrant, environment Excellent public speaking skills Positive outlook Flexibility Conditions of Employment: Punctuality and reliability Hatch Show Print offers experiences and programs seven days a week, generally between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, though some evenings may be required Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and some holidays Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
