Description Summary: Provides quality health care in the community, in keeping with the community values and as outlined in the MDIHO Mission Statement. Within the limits of a negotiated employment contract between the Physician employee and MDIHO, the Physician is responsible to provide primary care services to patients in all settings (office, hospital, nursing home, and home), including history and physical examinations, cancer screenings, patient/family education, diagnosing and treating presenting ailments, telephone follow-up, and stabilizing emergencies prior to transport to hospital. Supervises and provides backup to physician extenders in the office and hospital. Requirements Education, Training or Certifications Required: Board Certification. Credentialed by the MDI Hospital Medical Staff to practice Family Medicine. Maintains membership in the Active Medical Staff at MDI Hospital in good standing. DEA certified. BLS, ACLS and PALS certified. Cognitive Requirements: Emotional maturity and excellent communication skills required. Ability to work with distressed or anxious patients or family members. Ability to take in, process and apply clinical information in a wide variety of patient care situations. Ability to learn new techniques and incorporate them, through a new finding, into current practice. Ability to process and interpret complex information. Physical Demands: Ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in rising from exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assist patients in rising from and returning to wheelchair. Able to perform under stress. Environment: Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids. Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.
