Position Overview
The Head Bartender & Front of House Manager is a dual role responsible for overseeing bar operations, developing a creative beverage program, and managing front-of-house (FOH) staff to deliver outstanding guest service. This individual will be both a hands-on bartender and a service leader, balancing creativity, operational efficiency, and hospitality excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Beverage Program & Bar Management

  • Develop and maintain cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits menus aligned with the restaurant’s concept.
  • Create seasonal cocktails and implement consistent recipes and standards.
  • Manage bar inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships while controlling costs.
  • Train bar staff on mixology, service techniques, and product knowledge.
  • Ensure bar cleanliness, organization, and compliance with NYC Health and SLA regulations.

Front of House Leadership

  • Oversee daily FOH operations, including dining room setup, service flow, and closing procedures. Create and manage schedules for bartenders, waiters, and support staff.
  • Lead, train, and motivate FOH staff (bartenders, servers, hosts, support staff) to deliver attentive and professional service.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef & Kitchen Manager to coordinate service and maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Resolve guest concerns with professionalism, diplomacy, and a hospitality-first approach.
  • Uphold brand standards for service, ambiance, and guest experience.

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Manage FOH scheduling, payroll input, and shift coverage.
  • Monitor labor costs, bar profitability, and FOH performance metrics.
  • Conduct staff meetings, tastings, and pre-shift lineups.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years bartending experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or head bartender role.
  • Strong background in cocktail creation, wine knowledge, and spirits expertise.
  • Previous experience managing FOH staff in a fine dining or casual fine dining setting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Current Food Protection Certificate or similar required (accredited by the Westchester County DOH) and valid Alcohol Training Awareness Program (ATAP) certification preferred.
