The Cordova Room is currently hiring a Head Bartender & Mixologist.
The Cordova Room is the newest addition to Smiths, our beloved Irish pub in the heart of Gastown. This stylish whiskey and cocktail bar offers elevated drinks in an intimate, inviting setting, a fresh chapter in our story, designed for those who appreciate exceptional cocktails and great company. QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High-School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Completion of a bartending or mixology course is an asset
  • Minimum 3–5 years of bartending experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead bartender role
  • Deep knowledge of spirits, cocktail techniques, flavor pairings, drink recipes, and current industry trends
  • Serving It Right certification
  • Ability to handle busy crowds in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences
  • Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute a rotating menu of innovative and classic cocktails that reflect the bar’s brand
  • Stay current with the global trends in new cocktail development
  • Ensure the bar is properly stocked at all times
  • Oversee daily bar setup, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Train and develop staff by showing them varying cocktail techniques
  • Check identification of customers to make sure they meet legal requirements
  • Engage with guests to provide personalized recommendations, educate them on drink selections, and create memorable bar experiences
  • Assess bar staff training needs and provide relevant training
  • Ensure guest drinks are prepared and served according to company standards and as efficiently as possible
  • Carry out accurate end-of-night procedures
  • Communicate regularly and efficiently with the General Manager
  • Constantly strive to improve the standards of hygiene and service throughout the bar
  • Handle guest concerns and team dynamics with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Manage inventory and ordering
  • Assist the General Manager with staff scheduling
  • Operate the POS system accurately and process payments securely
  • Other duties as required
