EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a Caretaking setting
  • 1-3 years previous experience with building management systems
  • 5+ years previous caretaking/cleaning experience
  • Valid Alberta operators license (class 5)
  • Valid Building Operator A or B Ticket or a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate isan asset for this position
  • Certifications from cleaning organization is considered an asset
  • Previous experience within a school division is considered an asset

Knowledge/Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of proper cleaning procedures
  • Working knowledge of heating and mechanical systems in schools
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimalsupervision
  • Effective supervisory skills, including training, and delegating
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities
  • Leads a team responsible for caretaking duties including, but not limited to cleaning of school and grounds, snow removal responsibilities, preventative maintenance, and similar related duties in collaboration with Operations
  • Reports any defect, damages, or loss of school property to the Principal
  • Is responsible for the evaluation of all caretaking staff under their supervision
  • Ensures temperatures in the school building are maintained during the school day
  • Reviews the schedule of duties for the school with the Supervisor of Caretaking and the Principal on an annual basis
  • Orders caretaking supplies, equipment and materials
  • Coordinates cleaning duties with Community Use Supervisors at work in their facility as required
