    Job Description

Baxterstorey is seeking an experienced and innovative Head Chef to work with our team in Nottingham, United Kingdom. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service.

  • Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that align with our brand and customer preferences
  • Lead and inspire our team of skilled professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative kitchen environment
  • Manage kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and food cost management
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Collaborate with the management team to achieve financial targets and improve overall kitchen efficiency
  • Oversee quality control for all food preparation and presentation
  • Participate in menu tastings, special events, and client meetings as required
  • Stay abreast of current culinary trends and incorporate them into menu offerings where appropriate
  • Mentor and develop junior staff members, promoting skill enhancement and career growth

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume, professional kitchen setting
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
  • Excellent culinary skills and in-depth knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation
  • Strong understanding of food safety principles and relevant certifications (e.g., Level 4 Food Safety)
  • Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimise kitchen efficiency
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Culinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
  • Up-to-date knowledge of dietary requirements and food allergies
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and kitchen equipment
