The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our central production kitchen in Kippax. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for cooking, managing a small team, and ensuring the smooth running of operations. Alongside preparing fresh meals, you will also deliver the food daily to 4 local schools, ensuring excellent service and presentation on arrival. Shifts are Monday to Friday, Term Time only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily food production in the central kitchen to ensure meals are freshly prepared and delivered on time to schools.
  • Personally deliver meals to 4 local schools using the company vehicle.
  • Plan, develop, and cost seasonal menus in line with school catering requirements.
  • Manage, train, and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of performance and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Allergy Management regulations.
  • Monitor stock control, place orders with suppliers, and manage budgets effectively.
  • Maintain kitchen records, including HACCP, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.
  • Act as the key point of contact for schools, ensuring excellent service and customer satisfaction.

About You

  • Qualified and experienced chef with proven leadership experience (Head Chef or Sous Chef).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and allergen management.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for school deliveries).
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for healthy, balanced, and child-friendly food.
