JOB DESCRIPTION

Old Yale Brewing Chilliwack is looking to welcome a new Head Chef!
The Head Chef is responsible for all aspects of the kitchen. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, hiring, training, coaching, ordering, receiving, scheduling, and menu development. Key metrics that the position is responsible for include labor cost, food cost (including equipment and paper cost), and bill times. This role also includes additional day-to-day duties such as prepping, cooking, stocking, cleaning, and inventory ordering.
This position reports to the General Manager or the Hospitality Manager from time to time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience
  • Minimum 1 year of management experience in a food service-based industry;
  • Experienced with people management, and proven history of successfully leading a team;
  • A knowledge and passion for craft beer, and the brewing industry is an asset
  • Be a high energy and performance driven individual with a strong desire for continuous improvement along with the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including superior interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, changing environment;
  • Positive, collaborative approach to work and ability to function effectively as part of a team
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, training and leading the food truck team. Will ensure that all team members are following recipe procedures and food safety guide-lines.
  • Responsible for creating a monthly schedule for the culinary team.
  • Will oversee overall kitchen operations, ensuring that labour targets are hit and that recipes are followed.
  • Will be expected to hit daily, weekly, monthly and annual profitability targets, as it pertains to food and labour costs.
  • Will produce monthly inventory counts and action plan for any issues.
  • Will be responsible for ensuring a high level of food safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Create and maintain food equipment safety and cleaning procedures.
  • Be proactive regarding health and safety procedures and act promptly to correct any issues that arise
  • Roll up your sleeves and do what’s necessary to get the job done and complete other duties as required within the same scope and level
