We are looking for a Head Chef to manage the smooth operation of the commercial kitchen and dining service. The dining experience of our residents is a significant part of the Inspirit model of care. You will have direct reports of Sous Chef and Hospitality Assistants so previous leadership experience within a commercial kitchen, preferably in aged care is preferred. This role reports to the Hospitality Manager. This is a fabulous opportunity to work in a beautiful new home and be part of the new set up.

The key focus areas of the role are

  • Planning and preparation of fresh and nutritious meals for residents in line with their dietary needs and wants
  • Managing all resources within the kitchen including equipment and food supplies within a budget
  • Maintaining a hygienically clean kitchen that is fully compliant with the aged care quality standards
  • Consulting with residents on menu design and meal times
  • Preparation of texture modified diets and supplements
  • Ensuring all meals are visually well presented
  • Collaboration with Concierge to provide food for special events

To be successful in this role you’ll need

  • A heart and passion for providing high quality care to the elderly
  • Strong customer-centric approach and relationship building skills
  • Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Ability to build relationships with older people
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is preferred
  • Competent using computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
