POSITION DESCRIPTION

In conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach sets the overall vision of the swimming program, including setting program goals and objectives, and is responsible for the overall management of the program, which includes recruiting, developing and guiding student-athletes in accordance with MtA values.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Minimum of 7 years’ coaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Kinesiology, Recreation or Sports Administration)
  • Familiarity with Hytek and Swim Canada registration process will be considered an asset
  • Coaching experience as a head coach will be considered an asset
  • Coaching experience with swimmers aged 18+ and at the U SPORTS level will be considered an asset
  • Being a member of the Canadian Swim Coaches Association (CSCTA) will be considered an asset
  • Technical knowledge and ability (NCCP certification preferred)
  • Willingness to complete Certified Pool Operator Course
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational and motivational skills
  • Ability to maintain clear vulnerable sector check over time
