Department: Dean of Students' Office Job Posting Details The Dean of Students Office (DSTO) supports HKUST students in their educational journey, helping them lead meaningful and fulfilling lives while contributing to the community. DSTO staff are expected to adopt an educator's mindset, addressing student needs and nurturing their personal goals within society and the global community. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Head (Counseling and Psychological Services) provides visionary leadership and directs the strategic planning, administration, and effective delivery of mental health and counseling services for students. Committed to ensuring the availability of high-quality, evidence-based psychological care, this role emphasizes compassionate and professional service that meets both the developmental and counseling needs of the student body. The position fosters a campus culture of wellbeing, resilience, and inclusivity by promoting students' psychological growth, leading proactive crisis prevention, and managing direct interventions during critical incidents. Additionally, the Head serves as a consultant to faculty and staff on student mental health matters, supervises student counselors to uphold professional standards, and provides comprehensive emotional support for students. Candidates with over 15 years or more clinical counseling and management experience in the university setting, and a higher degree in counseling, psychology, or a related mental health discipline are invited to apply. Candidates should also satisfy the following: Professionally registered with a recognized Hong Kong counselling or psychotherapy body (e.g. the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, the Hong Kong Institute of Clinical Psychologists, the Hong Kong Psychological Society), or other internationally well-recognized professional bodies. An approved supervisor in the field of counseling, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, or equivalent, accredited by local or internationally well-recognized professional bodies. No disciplinary processing/ actions were ever conducted by any professional registration bodies. Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua). (Duration: 2 years, renewable) Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
