Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Full-Time Head Despatcher to join the team at our Head Office in Nambour. This is a pivotal role within the business and is a position that would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving and works well as a team.

This role will include accountability for a wide range of tasks including:

  • Despatch drivers, trucks and other response vehicles for emergency and non-emergency responses
  • Assess jobs and prioritise according to importance, urgency and risk.
  • Communicate requirements with customer service officers, drivers, managers and other parties to ensure smooth scheduling and coordination of transportation demands
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing communication within the despatch office including phone, radio and email
  • Respond to incoming calls and book in jobs, ensuring timely support to customers
  • Resolve customer queries in line with operational requirements
  • Data entry ensuring all despatch documents and records are maintained accurately and within required timeframes

The ideal candidate must be a superior communicator and can remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous despatch experience
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Solid computer skills and quick to learn new programs
  • High level of accuracy with an eye for detail and excellent time management skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a support role
  • Transport industry experience will be highly regarde
