HEAD, DIVISION OF ADOLESCENT MEDICINE

Effective immediately The Division of Adolescent Medicine is seeking a full-time permanent faculty position for Head, Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Ave., Toronto, ON which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children: affiliated with the University of Toronto.
The successful candidate will act as a key steward and mentor for our diverse faculty and trainees, be a key collaborator with our allied health and nursing partners and be an innovative partner to our scientists in our world-class Research Institute. By championing clinical services, education, and research discoveries, the successful candidate will advance the disciplines of the Adolescent Medicine Programs. The successful candidate will play a key strategic role in ensuring the alignment of academic activities with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Dedicated to supporting the growing diversification and spectrum of specialized clinical services, this role also provides unique opportunities for creative and professional activities and innovative translational and basic research with the goal of improving evidence-based care. The Division Head will also serve as a strategic advisor and steward of philanthropic funds to influence the division’s strategic vision.
The Division offers a comprehensive and accredited subspecialty residency program. Canadian and international trainees have embraced the opportunity to pursue the fellowship, which enables trainees to gain in-depth experience in the discipline of adolescent medicine offered in our Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada program.
The interprofessional team provides comprehensive care for youth with eating disorders and an adolescent medicine consultation service. Specialty programs include Young Families for pregnant and parenting teens, the Gender Care Program, the Substance Use Program and an innovative Transition to Adult Care Program. The Division maintains active clinical care in inpatient, day treatment and outpatient settings.
The Division plays key roles within the SickKids Mental Health Strategy, the Leong Centre for Healthy Children, and the Fraser Mustard Institute for Human Development Policy Bench.
The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications: Leadership and mentoring experience with a track record of academic and research excellence in the discipline of Adolescent Medicine; demonstrated vision for child and youth health.
The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($300,000-$375,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package. The successful candidate will also be eligible for a leadership stipend.
All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
