JOB SUMMARY

Lead the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) function in the UAE, aligning with Group strategy. FCC is a second line of defence role, responsible for providing policy advice, guidance, oversight, and challenge to the first line businesses and functions. Work in collaboration with Financial Crime Surveillance Operations (FCSO) team to drive effective, efficient, and compliant FCC operations across UAE, ADGM and DIFC. The role entails extensive and regular engagement with multiple external stakeholders – such as regulators; law enforcement agencies; industry bodies and peer banks.

Responsibilities
  • Set and implement the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) vision, strategy, direction, and leadership for the country, consistent with the Group vision and strategy for FCC in support of the Group’s strategic direction and growth aspirations.
  • Ensure that the UAE Country Management Team (CMT) is kept fully informed of prevailing FCC matters via the Financial Crime Risk Committee.
  • Design and own UAE FCC, ADGM & DIFC FCC Target Operating Models.
  • Ensure that there is adequate support (people, processes, tools, frameworks, systems) in the UAE to manage Financial Crime risk.
  • Proactively engage with external stakeholders – such as the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Supervision; the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU); law enforcement agencies; industry bodies and peer bank groups etc.
  • Analyse impact of financial crime related regulatory matters on the relevant business area and its operations.
  • Ensure that key changes (laws, rules, and regulations) are communicated and cascaded (in country) and embedded in policies and procedures.
  • Keep track of and provide advice to relevant stakeholders on the interpretation and application of regulatory expectations, laws, best practices, and policies related to FCC.
