Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Novelis is seeking a Head of IT Manufacturing Solutions, reporting directly to the CIO and is a critical IT leadership role responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy for the Manufacturing function globally. This role will lead the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions across all manufacturing plants, aligning technical innovation with operational excellence, cost management, and business priorities. The ideal candidate will bring deep metals industry experience and the ability to engage from the plant floor to the executive boardroom. This leader will own all IT resources supporting manufacturing, manage a team of 100+ professionals globally, and serve as the primary point of contact for regional Operations SVPs. They will play a central role in driving technology simplification, application rationalization, and cost optimization across the global manufacturing landscape.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, including significant exposure to manufacturing systems and plant operations
  • Demonstrated experience in the metals or heavy industrial sector
  • Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and complex IT portfolios
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Manufacturing technologies (e.g., MES, automation, plant-level ERP modules)
  • IT governance frameworks
  • Application rationalization and cost optimization
  • Executive presence with the ability to communicate across all organizational levels—from shop floor to executive committee
  • Strong financial acumen with experience balancing investment and execution in constrained environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% globally
  • Ability to work across time zones and cultural contexts

    • Define and execute the global technology strategy for the manufacturing function, aligned to business goals and operational realities

    • Drive technology simplification, standardization, and automation across manufacturing systems
    • Oversee architecture, design, and end-to-end delivery of projects, including in-house development where appropriate
    • Leadership & Team Management


      • Lead a global team of 100+ IT professionals across plants

      • Foster a high-performance culture focused on delivery, collaboration, and continuous improvement
      • Operational Alignment & Business Engagement


        • Serve as the primary IT partner for global manufacturing leadership and regional SVPs of Operations

        • Act as the voice of IT in manufacturing forums; represent plant needs in enterprise strategy and vice versa
        • Bridge the gap between floor-level operations and executive priorities with clear, confident communication
        • Governance, Cost, and Risk Management


          • Lead application rationalization efforts and manage the total cost of ownership of manufacturing systems

          • Ensure technology investments are justified with business outcomes in mind and executed in a cost-contained environment
          • Uphold IT governance practices, from project intake to solution delivery
          • Stakeholder Influence


            • Influence senior executives with clarity and confidence; push back constructively to shape the right outcomes
