Responsibilities
  • Carry out basic cleaning tasks quickly and effectively, ensuring a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Collect and wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils both manually and using dishwashing equipment.
  • Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and ready for service.
  • Keep the storeroom organized, clean, and stocked.
  • Make sure work surfaces, floors, and walls are always sanitized to the highest standard.
  • Support chefs with basic food preparation when required.
  • Oversee and coordinate the cleaning schedule, including deep cleans, in line with HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and liaise with management for ordering.
  • Maintain the hygiene of all main catering areas to enable the delivery of high-quality catering services.
  • Report maintenance or equipment issues promptly.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the team of kitchen porters to achieve consistently high standards.
  • Allocate daily duties and ensure all cleaning and support tasks are completed to schedule.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to new and existing team members.
  • Promote a positive, team-focused environment where staff feel valued and supported.
  • Act as the link between the porter team and the Head Chef/Management, ensuring clear communication and smooth kitchen operations.
