Duties and responsibilities: Clinical * Serves as a memberof the directpatient care teamand leads the nursing teamin gaining exceptional skills to provideevidence based comprehensive nursing care * Ensure theclinical area has appropriate numberof staff and skill mixfor the dependency level of the patients for the next 24 hrs. * Follow nursing polices and guidelines in accordance withcurrent quality initiatives within the areaof work. * Ensure staff awareness and delivery of care basedon current bestpractices. * Ensure patient andfamily education is given to all patients. * Ensure the implementation of all accreditation standards * Meet dailyall patients and frequently meetVIP, vulnerable, pre& post op, new admission and critically ill patients and ensureappropriate and timelycare. * Organize and coordinate patient care activities including procedures, therapies and tests to achieve desired patient outcome. * Conduct daily briefing of the staffin three shifts. * Play an active rolein counter checking in medication administration process, nursing procedure, transportation of special specimens / samples. * Counter check and verifies bloodand blood products transfusion. * Ensure staff providecompassionate care to the customers * Ensure to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. * Identify and articulate effectively patient rights and responsibilities. * Ensure accuracy and completion of nursing  documentation within the timeframe. * Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided and its documentation. * Adhere to the Hospital Policies and Protocols at all times. * Ensure competency of staff in essential skillsrequired for delivering care within the clinical area. * Actively participate in the implementation of any changein practice withinthe clinical area. * Provide allrequired facilities andatmosphere for the patients whichhelp in theirspeedy recovery from illness. * Ensure biomedical wastesegregation done as per the policy. * Ensure adherence to infection control practices by staffat all times. * Ensure timely reporting to Doctor for abnormal reports at all times. * Accompany Consultant/Doctor for rounds and procedures. * Ensure medication management as per the standards by all staffs. * Follow narcotic policyand be the custodian of the cabinkey. * Ensure sample safetyand blood transfusion safety. * Ensure adequate CSSDsupplies at all times   Managerial * Prepare the duty roster withadequate staff in each shifts * Ensure availability of adequate manpower, materials, equipment and supplies * Ensure that all equipment, furniture and fittings are available in good workingorder to ensurecomfort and safety to patients, visitors and staff. * Be responsible forthe overall administration of the unitassigned. * Actively participate in staff meetings, relevant committees, debriefing session, meeting with Nursing Leadership etc… and update staff about any policy changesor developments in the hospital. * Be the first line of reporting for staff and patient concerns * Recognize own limitation, seeks advice whenunable to solveconflict / problems. * Ensure effective and efficient useof all department resources.   Aster DM Healthcare Limited is one of the largest private healthcare service providers operating in multiple GCC states and is an emerging healthcare player in India.
