SUMMARY:
As Head of Admin and Complex Appointments Team, the role holder will be required to develop an efficient complex appointments and off boarding service to the senior judiciary and the Lord Chancellor in relation to their responsibilities to judicial office holder appointments (Courts, Tribunals and Magistracy).

To provide quality and timely advice to the senior judiciary and the Lord Chancellor in relation to their statutory and non-statutory judicial appointments responsibilities. This will include successful delivery of the complex appointments, which involves high quality advice and collaboration with a range of other Government Departments e.g. Investigatory Powers Commissioner’s Office.
To provide leadership and management direction through an unsettling period of change and tafter to the diverse team of ten. Ensuring that the team have the capabilities and skillset to work to its greatest potential, underpinning the processes with the use of technology, within an efficient and effective timeline.
Oversee the development and implementation of a direct entry email management and reallocation process for the HR appointments Operations function, w customers and stakeholders can expect a seamless quality of service; with engagement on potential improvements from stakeholders.
To lead the team in seeking the necessary senior judicial or ministerial approval for off boarding appointment matters, such as resignations and retirements. Ensuring new ways of working are considered and implemented.
Develop a joint way of working with the Head Judicial Office Holder Appointments and Head of Relationship and Assurance to ensure a seamless systematic approach, providing clarity for Judicial Office Holders and the Department through collaborative working and shared knowledge of the whole appointments system.
Lead role in cross-government and external networks representing the JO either alone or as an expert in support of more senior grades.
Working with the Head of Judicial Office Holder Appointments and Relationship Manager to identify shared priorities across HR Ops, the wider JO or other stakeholders, w collaboration can deliver significant benefits and align strategies accordingly.
Contribute significantly to decisions taken by senior grades and the judiciary, presenting options and recommending a way forward based on detailed research and analysis.
Providing seamless senior leadership across all onboarding and offboarding appointments in the courts, tribunals and magistracy and allowing the flexibility to oversee the two other appointment areas, w necessary, during periods of absence.
Responsibility for overseeing quality advice for the transfers within Local Justice Areas and the long service reports for the Magistracy.
Overall accountability for budgets and management responsibility of those with budget supervision in their area.
Responsibility for delivering team objectives.
To oversee the design and development of an electronic file management system for all judicial office holders, with clear policies on the management of sensitive judicial office holder records; meeting GDPR requirements.
