Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria have entered into a partnership to form the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM), based at the University of Cumbria at the Carlisle Fusehill Street campus. PCSM’s vision is to improve health outcomes for the people of Cumbria.

The School is now seeking to appoint a Head of Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach to oversee our recruitment and admissions activities, ensuring that PCSM:

  • Meets its admission targets by attracting and recruiting excellent students in line with the School’s vision to create a long-term workforce for the Cumbria region;
  • Focuses on widening participation by reducing barriers to access;
  • Has a fair, transparent and high-quality applicant experience, aligned with our goals, General Medical Council (GMC) and NHS values-based recruitment, and Imperial’s admissions policies and processes;
  • Promotes opportunities for aspiring clinicians in the Cumbria area.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

In this role, you will take overall responsibility for admissions for the PCSM medicine programme, providing expert academic judgment, in line with national guidance. You will develop, plan and lead the academic content of the School’s recruitment events, ensuring an exciting and deliverable programme that meets applicant needs. You will take responsibility for the academic content of the admissions process, and provide visible leadership for the admissions process, ensuring that candidates have a consistently positive experience of the medical school throughout their applicant journey.
