Corporate Business Development is shaping the future of our organization by identifying, executing, managing and integrating strategic external opportunities that drive long-term growth. Bringing together Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Pharma Partnering (PP) under one roof, we are dedicated to sourcing innovation, expanding our portfolio, and seamlessly integrating new assets and collaborations.
Asset Management as part of the Alliance and Asset Management function in Corporate Business Development (CBD) is responsible for managing divestments of established products and out-licensing of R&D stage assets. We facilitate portfolio optimization and reduce complexity by strategically identifying and offloading non-core assets. We work across therapeutic areas and geographies, leveraging our expertise in business development, deal execution, and alliance and integration management to create value for our patients and stakeholders.
We are now seeking an experienced and broadly recognized individual as the Head of Asset Management to lead this high-impact function and further elevate our partnering capabilities. You will drive the end-to-end process of asset identification, evaluation, out-licensing, divestment, and transfer — from early R&D to late-stage assets — ensuring alignment across internal stakeholders and external partners alike. This is a unique leadership opportunity to shape how Roche creates value from its discontinued assets through both out-licensing and divestment strategies while fostering enduring partnerships across the industry.
The Opportunity

As the Head of Asset Management, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for Roche’s global Asset Management activities, aligning closely with CBD’s goals and ensuring value creation through out-licensing and divestment of R&D and established assets.
• Lead a high-performing team of Outlicensing and Asset Management Directors, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation while overseeing the end-to-end project execution — from asset identification to partner engagement to deal execution and business transfer.
• Act as Roche’s senior representative in external negotiations and internal governance, engaging with senior leaders and ensuring strong cross-functional alignment across R&D, GPS, Finance, Legal, and Partnering leadership.
• Continuously enhance our out-licensing and divestment approach by driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance, and staying ahead of market trends and partnering best practices.

Who you are

• With a strong academic background, you hold a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or a Science-related field
• 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a strong background in Business Development, Alliance/Asset Management, Portfolio Strategy, and a successful track record in leading cross-functional teams.
• Strategic mindset with deep knowledge of the pharma value chain from R&D through commercialization, and strong execution skills in complex, high-impact projects.
• Proven expertise in deal-making, including negotiation, structuring, and closing of licensing and divestment agreements, paired with sound financial and contractual acumen.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, global environment.
